Not. Worth. It.

Small dishes. Everything was fried. The artichoke did not taste like artichoke, the main ingredient in most dishes is apparently salt, and the Lamb was easily the worst I've ever had. Stringy, flavorless, and _fried_. Gnocchi was just odd: one mushy lump.

Plan for $40-50 per person without drinks.

On the other hand, the table bread was quite good.

Dolce

I took a friend of mine to Dolce for his birthday lunch with a restaurants.com coupon. ;) We ordered the calamari as an appetizer with the lemon-caper sauce, not realizing it wasn't fried, they do however offer it fried with a different sauce. Had it been fried, I probably would have enjoyed it. I ordered the gnocchi duo, which half comes with pesto & the other half a traditional red sauce. Very enjoyable, the pesto gnocchi was the best gnocchi I have had. We had cappuccinos after diner, I think they cost about $4 & they were huge, we would have shared one if we had known.

Probably one of the best reasonably priced Italian restaurants in center city, one of my favorites. They are cash only, and best idea to make reservations. Only open for dinner, average entree prices are $10-15. Good service. La Viola is very small, and tables are very close, can be a tight fit. At the less busy times it has romantic feeling. I had the lobster raviolis, they give you 5, they were better than most places I have had. The bread & salads are delicious. I have heard the veal platters are a good choice too. The portions are perfect sized for me, you leave happy without the overfull feeling & without leftovers.

Bubble House Company

I really enjoy the Bubble House. I like the romantic atmosphere, dim lighting made by candles & close knit booths & tables. My favorite thing to eat is the Boston Salad with chicken, and the sweet potato fries! I haven't had anything there not to like. The Thai Wings, Coconut Curry, and Korean Barbecue Wrap are all good options as well, as I have tried from others i have gone with. The Bubble Tea is a must have! My favorite flavors are the green tea & almond joy, upgrade to the jumbo.

Wonderful. Some of the best and quickest service I have experienced. They were very attentive without being intrusive. The prices are actually reasonable. The appetizers and table bread were rather great though the main dishes were a touch on the salty side. Portions were reasonable.

We were there on a Wednesday night. I have heard the weekend service in the original building can be slower.

Will go back.

Excellent Indian Cuisine in a real up and coming area (Bristol Borough)! - May 23, 2009
I moved to Bristol Borough only fairly recently and was very pleasantly surprised to find that it is a real hotbed of great restaurants. Kind of like an early stage New Hope. It's a very exciting time to be here.

We've now been to Cafe Bombay twice in just the last week. The food is EXCELLENT. I've been just about everywhere in NYC and Edison, NJ. The preparations at Cafe Bombay are easily better than most, without question. Their ingredients are very fresh - the flavors are positively wonderful, and their chef is definitely accomplished. The use of ingredients and spices are well-balanced. The Chicken Saag is the BEST that we have EVER had.

Trust me - this is some of the very best Indian food available, not just in this area but anywhere in the entire Philly / NYC metro area.

The service is very polite and reserved - it's a family restaurant. The decor could use a bit more of a touch in my opinion but that's ok - it's a bit cheesy for my taste but

Here is what we have had so far:

Rogan Josh. Pieces of lamb marinated in yogurt with herbs. Spiced then cooked in its own gravy. A north Indian favorite We ordered this as a 7 (out of 10) in range of spice / heat. Next time we'll do 8 as we like our food spicy. This was excellent.

Lamb Kadai. Kadai cooking is native to Sind which was formerly a part of Bombay. Pieces of meats or vegetable are quickly cooked in a Kadai (wok) with a small amount of spiced oil, onion, tomatoes, garlic, and other subtle flavors

Most dishes may be spiced from 1-10. Kadai is spicy by nature so the scale on this is 5-10. We had 8 and were suitably impressed to find a spicy dish that had FLAVOR in equal doses to HEAT. 8 with this dish is definitely spicy but not overwhelmingly so - not if you like spicy food.

Chicken Curry (Strong Flavor). Cooked in the traditional curry sauce (onion tomato). We had this as a 7 - WONDERFUL. Next time we'll do 8 but really this is a great dish.

Chicken Saag (Light Flavor). Chicken cooked with fresh spinach, onion, tomato, ginger, garlic and spices. We had this as a 5, so as to not overwhelm the delicate flavors with too much heat. This was THE BEST Chicken Saag EVER. No exaggeration. The very humble staff bowed his thanks and said that his brother always uses fresh spinach.

NAAN. A staple bread - very good.

POORI. It's not on the Web site menu but is on their menu in the restaurant. I normally don't get these but I have to say that it was the BEST Poori that I've had - huge and tasty and perfect with the curries.

ALOO PARATHA. It's not on any of their menus but is one of my favorites. I asked about it and our waiter said that it would be no problem and they would be happy to make it. Tasty ... mmmmm.

BASMATHI RICE. Well-prepared. Very nice and fluffy, with just enough of it's own flavor.

GREAT happy hour! I'm not sure if I'd go there specifically for dinner though.

The restaurant moved to 2012 Sansom St. around Oct 2008. I would have expected to pay more for a meal that good ($16-20 pasta, $20-29 entrees.) Great food AND great service!
