Food was good. Atmosphere was nice. Good Service. All great remarks from a person who doesn't like Italian food...and people. ;-)
Best Italian BYO in the city.
Real small and busy so get a reservation.
Food was good, menu was very reasonabley priced.
and BYO, so you can't beat that.
we'll be going back again to give it another shot.

small cozy place with very good food and a reasonable price. the calamari was grilled, not fried, and was surprisingly good and tasty. The lobster ravioli was also very good, but after the first one, the lobster flavor went unnoticed. quick and friendly waiters too.
The service was impecable. A++. The room, despite the prettily folded napkins, white table cloth, etc, seemed a bit too minimalist and austere to be romantic in any way. Perhaps it was the white washed walls... The food was just so-so. There was nothing wrong with the food, but it just wasn't great. (Although the seafood they throw on everything was quite yummy.) Still, the food was just a small notch above Olive Garden quality.
Probably one of the best reasonably priced Italian restaurants in center city, one of my favorites. They are cash only, and best idea to make reservations. Only open for dinner, average entree prices are $10-15. Good service. La Viola is very small, and tables are very close, can be a tight fit. At the less busy times it has romantic feeling. I had the lobster raviolis, they give you 5, they were better than most places I have had. The bread & salads are delicious. I have heard the veal platters are a good choice too. The portions are perfect sized for me, you leave happy without the overfull feeling & without leftovers.
